October 13, 2009, Sunshine found a shrew (genus Soricidae) in our garden! Sunshine sniffed at the mouse and then turned the mouse upside down with her paw. The little one defended itself with her teeth but didn't manage to bite Sunshine. Finally I picked up the mouse and put her in the back of the garden when Sunshine was inside the house. I did not want her to harm the little creature!

September 27, 2009, Aurora & Sunshine Kennel Koraal adopted an Icebear and of course I had to take pictures. For more information about adopting an Icebear, see our Svalbard page.

Rose got a little friend. Now she has someone to take care for herself.

July 16, 2009, Aurora's birthday Aurora is a real arctic samoyed. She was born 7 years ago. Her mother Katja delivered her outside on the grass, early in the morning in Sweden. Aurora never forgets where she's coming from. When the temperature is too hot, she just digs a hole under a tree to ly in. She can stay there for hours, quietely looking at all things happening around her. Most people even don't see her when she's under one of 'her trees' (she has more than one!). She is a lovely samoyed who listens very well and has a lot of skills. I hope she will stay with us for many more years!!!

June 22, 2009 Lizzy, a Maltezer, is staying with us during the holiday of her owners. She is a lovely litlle girl of seven months and she plays the whole day round, especially with Sunshine. She sleeps between the front legs of Sunshine and even walks into her bench as if it is her own bench! There she is laying with Sunshine like a little pup with her mother.

Op 9 juni 2009 is Koraal's Crystal Iduna geslaagd voor de cursus gehoorzaamheid A. Haar huisgenootje Aura volgde dezelfde cursus in een andere groep. Beide honden werden nummer 1 van hun eigen groep!

Sunniva back in Kennel Koraal

A tree full of Squirrel Our dogs have a large tree in the garden under which they prefer to lie all year round like wolves. This winter a couple of squirrel monopolized the tree and today I discovered there have been a lot of young squirrel born! Five or seven...? I'm not sure yet. The little ones are playing and climbing in the tree, just a few meters from our house! Wat a wonderful sight!

Sunshine just jumps on the surface of the pond to eat ice (naughty girl!)... Aurora just walks on the stones but not on the ice

In de vroege morgen van woensdag 24 september 2008 is
de heer W.M. Clay,
Erekeurmeester van de Raad van Beheer op kynologisch gebied in Nederland,
op 92 jarige leeftijd overleden.
De crematie heeft op maandag 29 september in besloten kring plaats gevonden.

In the early morning of Wednesday September 24, 2008, honorary judge of the Raad van Beheer op kynologisch gebied in Nederland, passed away at the age of 92 years.

Samoyeds on the Aletschglacier in ancient times. A poster with those samoyeds is still hanging on the wall at the train station. We made a walk to the same spot on the poster.

March 29, 2008 / 29 maart 2008 The yearly excursion with the animal healthcare centre in Wehl. This time there was a stepping tour with dogs organized together with Dogatti. As usual it was a very successful day with nice weather, some refreshments during a pause in the woods, good and clear instructions in relation to stepping with dogs and a lot of sociability.
March 29, 2008 / 29 maart 2008 Het jaarlijkse uitstapje met het diergezondheidscentrum in Wehl. Deze keer was er in samenwerking met Dogatti een steptocht met honden georganiseerd. Zoals we inmiddels gewend zijn was het een heel geslaagde dag met mooi weer, versnaperingen tijdens een pauze in het bos, goede duidelijke instructies met betrekking tot het steppen met een hond en heel veel gezelligheid.

February 25, 2008 / 25 februari 2008
On February 24, 2008 our Sunshine was mated to Marco. Marco stayed with us for a few days and herewith some pictures of the two together. Marco and Sunshine were really fond of each other and played together from dawn till evening. They were inseparable and they rebuild our garden into a dogs paradise!
Op 24 februari is onze Sunshine gedekt door Marco. Marco heeft een aantal dagen bij ons gelogeerd en bijgaand een paar foto's van de twee samen. Marco en Sunshine waren echt gek op elkaar en hebben samen gespeeld van de vroege morgen tot de late avond. Ze waren onafscheidelijk en hebben onze tuin tot een hondenparadijsje verbouwd.

Koraal's Arctic Jackson became father of seven pups in Holland.
On September 4, 2007 four females and three males were born.
Mother of the pups is: Schylger's Bamse's Akka

Op 4 september 2007 zijn vier teefjes en drie reutjes geboren..

Now and then we receive drawings from children about samoyeds. We very much like to share these art of drawings with you.	Af en toe ontvangen wij tekeningen van kinderen over samojeden. We willen deze tekenkunst graag met u delen.

We received the above drawing, made by Floris when our samoyed Ivora passed away in 1998.	The above drawing was made by Lotte when she saw a picture of our Luna on our website in 2006.
Bovenstaande tekening ontvingen wij van Floris toen onze samojeed Ivora in 1998 overleden was.	Bovenstaande tekening werd gemaakt door Lotte nadat ze een foto van onze Luna met een vogeltje had gezien op onze website.

Melle created a beautiful drawing of a little princess together with the samoyed dog of her dreams called Roosje in 2008.	Lili hande me this cute drawing herself when Sunshine's pups were born in 2008.
Melle maakte in 2008 een prachtige tekening van een prinsesje te zamen met Roosje, de samojeed van haar dromen.	Lili gaf mij zelf deze leuke tekening toen de pupjes van Sunshine geboren waren in 2008.
